Designed to Connect — The Grafted Olive

Designed to Connect:

A Porch Transformation

From an old, obstructive screened porch overlooking a blank canvas to an open, inviting space that connects home and garden, redefined outdoor living and encourages gathering with friends and family.

The Vision:

We wanted a porch that felt like a natural extension of our home—beautiful, comfortable and designed for gathering. A place where we could welcome a crowd, linger over dinner or relax by the fire, while staying connected to everything happening beyond it. From the pool and lawn to the firepit and trampoline, we wanted the spaces to feel like one continuous experience, rather than separate places to spend time.

The Transformation:

AFTER

We replaced the permanent screens with retractable shades, discreetly integrated into custom-designed brackets that became an architectural feature in their own right. Dark, color-drenched paint created a sense of intimacy, while layered lighting, additional fans and heaters made the space comfortable across seasons.

We also introduced a side patio, creating a more natural connection to the backyard while establishing another outdoor room of its own.

The result is a space that feels both elevated and inviting—beautiful enough for entertaining, comfortable enough for everyday living, and connected to everything happening around it.
